Chatham House publishes research paper on security actors in post-2011 Libya

On 12 December, Chatham House published a research paper by senior research fellow Tim Eaton, titled ‘Security actors in Misrata, Zawiya and Zintan since 2011’. Drawing on in-depth interviews with key security figures and residents of Misrata, Zawiya and Zintan, Eaton explores the evolution of the security apparatus of each of these three cities since Qadhafi’s overthrow in 2011. He maintains that this local factor is ‘critical to understanding the country’s security sector, and the challenges for security sector reform (SSR) and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR)’.
