According to Mohamed Eljarh (@Eljarh), previously a Non-Resident fellow at the Atlantic Council's Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East , the UN-imposed GNA is facing a seriously threatening question as its PC (Presidential Council) members are disagreeing on the BDB (Benghazi Defence Brigades) designation. Eljarh wrote that while PC Members Mohamed Ammari (an Islamist himself) and Kajman disagree with designating the BDB as a terrorist group, GNA’s Defence Minister Barghathi (ex-ally of Haftar) released a statement labelling this militia as a terrorist group.
#GNA needs to make statement as a unit. Can't have members each speak for themselves. It will lose credibility quickly. And Haftar says MoD backer Jathran is terrorist. Click here to read the full Twitter chain.
In another tweet, Eljarh urged Jadran (the PFG’s leader) to avoid being on the same side of the BDB and DMSC (Derna Mujahidin Shura Council which is another Islamic militia). He added in yet another tweet that if Jadran tacitly worked with the Islamist brigades against the LNA this would allow LNA’s leadership in Benghazi (Haftar’s forces) to wage a war against Jadran from ‘a tribal point of view’.
