For Siba N’Zatioula Grovogui, writing on 20 November for Foreign Policy, the deliberations which led to the Western intervention in Libya in 2011, were embedded in a ‘race-based colonial mindset’, which translated into the marginalization of African thinkers and leaders in a decision which still has effect on regional politics to this day. In his demonstration, he traces the roots of instability in present-day Libya to the Western policy makers’ incapacity to include African perceptions. In doing so, he challenges the framework of thoughts still in action in today’s efforts to foster stability in Libya, embedded in the UN’s dialogue initiative which has yet to prove successful.
