On 17 September, the head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj announced in a televised speech his intention to resign from his position at the end of October, Middle East Eye reported on the same day. The announcement follows the renewal of dialogue between Libyan political rival factions to push forward a political solution to Libya’s crisis, and come before new rounds of negotiations under the auspices of the international community.
