On 21 August, Libya-Analysis founder Jason Pack published an op-ed in Foreign Policy magazine in which he analyzed the impact of the 13 August deal normalizing relations between Israel and the UAE on Libya. Pack argues that the deal will significantly dampen prospects for peace in Libya by making the United States more beholden to the UAE, despite efforts by State Department-level professionals to have the US play a more neutral, mediating role. The article places the agreement and the proxy war on Libya in larger regional context, and suggests that one avenue for the US Congress to continue pursuing peace in Libya is by passing the Libya Stabilization Act.Click here to read the article.
