On 12 November, Mohamed Elshinnawi of Voice Of America (VOA) interviewed founder of Libya-Analysis LLC Jason Pack, who discussed the persisting fighting in Libya. Pack highlights the increase of violations of the U.N arms embargo by several actors such as Turkey, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Egypt since launch of the Libyan National Army (LNA) assault on Tripoli last April. He notes that the supply of weapons by foreign actors to the Libyan warring factions contributes to fuelling the conflict. As a result, Pack advocates for the development of an enforcement mechanism of the UN’s arm embargo. For him, imposing financial sanctions to the countries violating the U.N measure could be a step towards the end of the fighting.Click here to listen (between 4 :25 and 8 :10).
