Jason Pack: ‘Terror and tyranny have led Libya to a biblical catastrophe’

On 15 September, The Telegraph published the latest article by Libya-Analysis founder Jason Pack, under the title ‘Terror and tyranny have led Libya to a biblical catastrophe’, in which he argues that the recent tragic flooding catastrophe in the eastern Libyan city of Derna was predictable and avoidable. Pack points to the millions of dollars that were allocated towards fixing Derna’s dams but were never spent ‘due to inefficiencies and no doubt also to corruption’. He further argues that Libya’s dysfunction is ‘made worse by the fact that a divided international system backs opposing actors and pulls the country in contradictory directions’.
