On 4 June, international media outlets have reported the withdrawal of forces aligned with Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) from the Tripoli area. As a result, forces aligned with the Government of National Accord (GNA) were able to seize areas which had been key to Haftar and the LNA's progression in Eastern Libya since the launch of Haftar's campaign for Tripoli, such as Tarhouna. Such a development appears to announce the end of the battle for Tripoli to a certain extent, but does not mean yet an end to military tensions and political instability in Libya, neither does it suggest that the GNA fully controls the Tripoli area.Click here for Reuters reports on LNA withdrawal.
