On 8 September, a panel of UN experts issued their latest report on the implementation of the Libya arms embargo, Associated Press News (AP News) reports. The experts’ report demonstrate that the embargo has recently suffered repeated violations from Libya’s rival factions through their international backers and private companies. As it is, the report mirrors the recent developments in the ground in Libya, which has seen an intensification of fighting and militarization. The report also notes the ‘more direct engagement’ by foreign states such as Turkey, Russia or the UAE in the conflict. Such actors have denied the allegations.
