On 2 July, the Libya Herald reported the latest comments by Mustafa Sanalla, chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) on the oil sector in Libya. Speaking at the OPEC Summit in Vienna on 1 July, Sanalla warned against the threat posed by fighting to oil production and attempts by parallel Eastern Libyan institutions to export oil illegally. Tensions regarding the control of oil resources and their distribution are most likely to persist over the course of the coming months. Meanwhile, on the same day, Reuters reported that finding clean, drinkable water was also becoming a concerning issue in Libya. In Western Libya, both the power grid and water control system have been damaged during the fighting between Libyan National Army (LNA) forces and the anti-LNA coalition, Reuters reports.
