Out of the blue the court in Tripoli has issued its verdict on Saif al-Islam Qadhafi. The Libya Herald explains the technicalities well. But the big picture is that this is an attempt by spoilers to derail the progress in the UN mediated peace deal and some of the local ceasefires that have been holding in Western Libya (and are analyzed in an excellent article in the Times of Malta by Richard Galustian). The Islamist spoilers in Tripoli are showing what they think should happen to the former Qadhafi officials serving on the Haftar side. I discussed this aspect on BBC Scotland. You can listen here. And made a great extended radio debate on the Voice of the Cape with Hanan Salah that you can listen to here.
