On 21 July, Hafed Al-Ghwell discussed in an article published on Arab News Libya’s difficult path to peace since the 2011 uprising. Al-Ghwell advocates for the implementation of a strategic, long-term solution in Libya and lays out three fundamental prerequisites for such a solution. According to the author, the first issue that must be addressed is the recognition of the nature of the 2011 conflict, a civil war between the supporters of the Gaddafi regime and its opponents. The recognition of Libya’s fragmentation along regional and tribal lines would be the second prerequisite for the implementation of a long-term solution for Libya.
