The Trump administration revises its Libya policy

In an article published on 8 June The Guardian reports that sources within the U.S Trump administration suggested that the Trump administration is currently turning away from General Haftar, less than two months after President Trump exchanged on the phone with General Haftar and appeared to endorse his offensive on Tripoli. For The Guardian, the call was an independent manoeuvre of Trump, responding to a demand of the Egyptian president Al-Sisi, and did not indicate the administration’s willingness to engage with Haftar and his Libyan National Army (LNA). According to sources, the administration is revising its Libya policy and could be considering options such as a US-enforced ceasefire.
