To shed light on the increased involvement of Russia in Libyan affairs, Ferhat Polat published with TRT World Research Centre on 17 July a policy outlook on Russia’s post-2011 Libya strategy. The paper examines the drivers of Russia’s Libya strategy, as well as potential outcomes of the indirect confrontation over Libyan affairs between foreign powers. For Polat, it appears that Russia’s Libyan strategy has enabled Russia to counter Western influence in the region and granted Russia a shaping role on Libya’s future. His research also highlights that Russian presence on the ground is an important factor of instability.Click here to read the policy outlook
