On 30 April, International Crisis Group (ICG) published its latest report on Libya analysing the impact of Turkey’s involvement in the conflict opposing forces aligned with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) against forces aligned by Eastern-Libya based Khalifa Haftar. ICG demonstrates that Turkey’s intervention in the conflict did not result in a de-escalation of the conflict, but rather so in its escalation as Turkey provided support to GNA aligned forces in order to resist against Haftar’s progression in Western Libya. The ICG report highlights Turkey’s motivation to intervene in Libya and draws perspectives for a way out of the current crisis.Click here to access the full report.
