Late on 29 October, US Special Operations forces captured Mustafa al-Imam in Misrata, Libya. Imam is suspected of being involved in the 11 September 2012 attack on the US Special Mission in Benghazi. US President Donald Trump said on 30 October that Imam had been captured on his orders, with the approval of the Libyan government (presumably the Government of National Accord (GNA)). Trump said that,
The United States will continue to support our Libyan partners to ensure that ISIS and other terrorist groups do not use Libya as a safe haven for attacks against United States citizens or interests, Libyans, and others.
He added that the US would continue to find and prosecute the perpetrators of the Benghazi attack. To read more details on the incident click here.
