The report brings forward new elements to the scandal around the Wirecard financial institution, as Marsalek is suspected of having financed foreign militia groups in Libya. Research suggests connections between Marsalek and networks linked to Russia’s military intelligence directorate, the GRU. Sources indicate that Marsalek’s interest for Libya were driven by a desire to gain power and influence.
