On 24 January, the World Bank, the United Nations, and the European Union published the Libya Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA), a joint report analysing the damages and losses caused by the catastrophic flooding in eastern Libya last September. According to the data, damages and losses are estimated at $1.03bn and $62mn, respectively. The report also finds that ‘the greatest impact has been on housing, the environment, Libya’s cultural heritage, as well as the transportation and water sectors’, estimating that the country will need $1.8bn for recovery and reconstruction.
