On 18 February, the governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) Sadiq al-Kabir published a column with The Independent. Drawing on the outcomes of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LDPF) and appointment of a new political body expected to lead Libya towards national elections in December 2021, al-Kabir expresses the support of the CBL to the transitional government. The column, in which he details the undergoing reforms operated by the CBL such as the audits of Eastern Libyan paralel bank institutions in the perspective of reunification, also positions the CBL as a central institution supporting Libya’s road towards stability.
