Othman Belbeisi, the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Chief of Mission in Libya published on 22 August an op-ed with The New Arab. Belbeisi proposes four practical solutions that can be implemented in Libya as an alternative to the detention centers. In Libya, the IOM is opposed to the criminalisation of migration and aims at improving the conditions of live of the migrants rescued on the Libyan coast.
