On 2 December, Libyan protesters stormed the Tripoli headquarters of Fayez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA) demanding their unpaid salaries and medical treatment. The event is to be considered in the framework of wider Tripoli tensions - GNA Prime Minister Fayez al-Serraj continues to consolidate his power through a series of political, economic and security moves ahead of the UN’s planned National Conference next year. It also shows that any positive economic developments are only a tiny step towards solving the country’s deeper economic issues.
