As tensions persist in South Tripoli between the forces of Khalifa Haftar, the Libyan National Army (LNA) and forces aligned with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), each side denounce and criticize the other for receiving support from external backers and report violations of the UN Arms embargo in Libya. On 29 June, militias aligned with the GNA presented to journalists arms allegedly seized from LNA forces in Gharyan. According to specialists, these were modern weapons, of US and Chinese manufacture, most likely supplied to LNA forces by the U.A.E. Following, the United States said it would investigate on potential breaches on arm export compliance. Meanwhile, on 30 June, LNA forces claimed destroying a Turkish drone in Tripoli, Reuters reported. They also denounced what is perceived as an intrusion of Turkey in Libya’s internal affairs, arrested Turkish citizens in Ajdabiya and declared an embargo on Turkey in Eastern Libya.
