In June 2019, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime published a report by Noria Research untitled “Predatory Economies in Eastern Libya – The Dominant role of the Libyan National Army (LNA)”. Drawing on the fighting in South Tripoli between the LNA headed by Khalifa Haftar and forces aligned with the Government of National Accord (GNA), the report analyses the LNA’s strategy to gain control of streams of revenue to sustain its military advances. For the authors, the LNA has adopted a predatory behaviour in the territories it has overtaken since the breakthrough in Benghazi in July 2017.Click here to read the report.
