Writing for The Africa Report on 23 January, Samer Al-Atrush comments on Government of National Accord (GNA) PM Fayez Al-Sarraj’s unclear positioning as Libya stands on the brink of a new political phase as a result of the UN-led concertation on a political transition. Over the course of the past months, Al-Atrush recalls, Sarraj has appeared hesitant on his next steps in Libyan political affairs. In September 2020, he announced his intention to step down, only to postpone the so-called resignation a few weeks later.
