I have long speculated that the international community's position had been biased in favour of the HoR and against its enemies. I had known that Gibril and Nayed had greater access to decision makers in the West and the ability to pull various levers via personal contacts, lobbying firms, and more sophisticated sales pitches. And yet, I never would have expected that it would go this far. That is to say that Nayed and Gibril had run Emirati policy so as to simply corrupt the UN process itself by buying off Bernardino. This is simply astounding. So astounding that even though the Guardian has leaked the emails and run the story. I wonder if there is still more to it than this and I want to believe that Bernardino couldn't have been bought so cheaply. I mean wouldn't he realize that as soon as he took up the Emirati teaching academy position that all of his previous actions would be called into question? And all for only a half million USD...? That is a tiny sum given the billions that are swirling around in the this conflict. It seems improbable. Also what have Nayed, Gibril, and the UAE really gained? Wouldn't they have gained most by securing an agreement and not having the HoR's legitimacy lapse and the country that they profess to care about being torn apart and its population suffer?? Or am I missing something and it is the current state of affairs that allow people to line their pockets and no one actually cares about Libya except for a few outside experts and 'average' Libyans who have no way to sway the actions of the callous political class and the militia leaders. Ya Libya, ya Hazina.....
